Styled after its European counterparts with 19 1/4" rough forged straight s.e. blade concealed within wood shaft with rounded pewter top (corroded). Wood grip swelled to the top. The grip and haft covered in dark maroon/brown leather with transverse split cane basket weave bands. Construction exactly as seen on conventional Ashanti sword scabbards and hilts. Well worn with partial wrist loop. The pewter tip indicates that this was carried like a swagger stick and not used for support. Surely a possession which brought great pride and status to its original owner.
